Last down day

Sleep is still a challenge.  At least I am not the only one.  It seems to be a team theme.  Today we attended a ministerial meeting on psychosocial issues related to the epidemic.  This is a really big deal. So many peoples' lives have been changed forever.  This afternoon was a bit lighter with a trip downtown to shop.  Our driver took us to the real market places of Monrovia.  It was literally sidewalk to sidewalk with people.  We were the only tourists in sight.  At one point the driver took off leaving us in the car while he scouted for a certain store.  He came back and explained the crowded situation and how it really was better and safer if we waited.  In these times of Ebola it was eye opening how on top of each other this crowded city is.  Sure there are chlorine washing stations everywhere tourists or government people go but there is no chlorine in site in the neighborhoods or the markets.  We saw the ocean again in our driving around.  Gorgeous.  Tomorrow we head to Bong for training.  It is beginning!!!!!!

Lawrence the driver.

Marketplace.  All taken from the car.  Apparently not recommended to take while walking around.

  1. Beautiful pictures! I like the one of Lawrence the Driver with the blue water and a view of some of the city in the background. Google Earth shows a huge bay and estuary. (Yes, I'm thinking about bird habitat.) Hope the trip to Bong goes well. Your title hints at your expectation of a tidal wave of information and new experiences. As if is hasn't been like that already. :) I like the way you plunge in and swim out the other side each time.
